Volunteer

Voluntary work can be rich and fulfilling, bringing joy to people’s lives. Many charities hire volunteers to carry out the many tasks that must be carried out, which is true for the staff in a charity shop. A charity shop requires much in the way of manpower which is why volunteers are there to serve customers, replenish stock, make sure everything is clean, create posters, label items with prices, sort through the takings, answer questions and of course sort through all of those generous donations that are left at charity shops up and down the country regularly.

A volunteer is someone who works for the community and helps with community issues but is unpaid so they are doing it purely for the benefit of doing so. You could be someone serving food to the homeless, you could be helping at the local school or hospital or you could be helping with environmental matters. They can also be part of a larger group, work alone or through an organisation (such as charities) as part of their volunteer work.

Volunteering is a positive way of giving something back to the community.
